Friends of Georgia Music Festival, Inc., Announce the 32nd Annual Georgia Music Hall of Fame Honorees

Awards Show to be Held at New Venue, the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre, on September 11, 2010 and broadcast LIVE at 8:30 p.m. on Georgia Public Television

 

ATLANTA- (June 11, 2010)-- Friends of Georgia Music Festival, Inc. announce the honorees who will be inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame.  The official induction will take place at the 32nd Annual Georgia Music Hall of Fame Awards Show on September 11, 2010 in its new location – the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre – the premier performing arts venue located in North Atlanta.  The event marks the third decade that the non-profit organization has recognized Georgia’s accomplished artists and musicians for outstanding achievements.

“We are excited to continue recognizing Georgia’s outstanding contribution to the music industry and will continue the awards show as we have done for 31 years.  We are also thankful to the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre for holding the event and ushering the show into its 32nd year by providing a state-of-the-art facility for our inductees and loyal supporters,” says president of Friends of Georgia Music Festival, Inc., Dr. Bobbie Bailey.

This year’s honorees are as follows: Performer- Multi-GRAMMY® winning R&B Soulstress, India.Arie; Group- Multi Platinum Rock and Roll Band, The Black Crowes; Non-Performer- Industry leader in Artist Management, Charlie Brusco; Classical- outstanding American mezzo-soprano and GRAMMY® winner, Jennifer Larmore; Pioneer- Virtuoso Classical Pianist, Charles Wadsworth; Posthumous- Singer/Songwriter, Paul Davis; Steel Guitarist, Pete Drake; Blues Musician, Rev. Pearly Brown; and renowned legendary songwriter, John Jarrard.  The evening will include live performances by The Black Crowes, India.Arie, legendary rock band, STYX and this year’s Horizon Award recipient, Spanish/Engish singer, Tyna Q.  The distinguished Horizon Award is given to an "up and coming" performing artist or songwriter, either individual or group, with significant ties to the State of Georgia, and who is expected to make a significant future contribution to the world of music.

The awards show will begin at 8 p.m. and be broadcast live on Georgia Public Broadcasting, beginning at 8:30 p.m. EST.
